Vetro was a sixth round draft pick of the Montreal Alouttes in 1981. Vetro played mainly on special teams for Montreal, both covering kicks and returning them. Montreal released Vetro three games into his third season in July of 1983 and he was picked up by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in August. Vetro sat out the entire 1984 season due to injuries.
